Our Team

Barry Sherman, President, founded the store in 1976. His beliefs in honesty and building true relationships have kept him in business for almost 50 years. He loves colored gemstones and designing one-of-a-kind pieces that you won’t find anywhere else. Barry is a member of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Alumni Association, completed the diamond and colored gemstone courses at GIA, is a lifetime member of GIA, and member of Jewelers of America.

Myra Sherman, Barry's wife, oversees all aspects of accounting and budgeting for the store. With over 35 years of expertise in the jewelry industry, she brings invaluable experience and precision to her role.

Jamie Danieli, the daughter of Barry and Myra, joined Albarre in 2011, bringing her passion and expertise to the family business. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Consumer Science, Jamie returned to St. Louis to be closer to her family. At Albarre, she plays a vital role in curating new jewelry collections, organizing impactful charity events, and assisting clients in building their perfect jewelry wardrobe. Her vibrant energy and dedication make her an integral part of the Albarre experience.

Ariella Scott, aka “Ellie,” has been an integral part of the Albarré team since 2013. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Visual and Critical Studies from the esteemed School of the Art Institute of Chicago before returning to her hometown of St. Louis to be closer to her family. At Albarré, Ellie shines in her multifaceted role—crafting detailed appraisals, offering personalized assistance to customers, and ensuring that every repair is completed to perfection and delivered on time.

Michaela Taylor joined Albarré in 2019, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a passion for fine jewelry. Originally from Mt. Vernon, IL, she moved to St. Louis to pursue a degree in Photography at Washington University. Michaela’s journey in the jewelry industry began in 2013, working for an estate jewelry buyer. By 2015, she transitioned into luxury jewelry sales, where she has excelled ever since, sharing her expertise and love for stunning pieces with her clients.

A GIA graduate specializing in diamonds, Michaela has also completed the GIA Gem Identification course. She is proud to be a certified sales associate through the American Gem Society, further showcasing her dedication to excellence in the field.

Jack Potter, a proud St. Louis native, discovered his passion for jewelry-making at just 12 years old, inspired by a YouTube video. Encouraged by family friends, he connected with a master jeweler during high school who took him on as an apprentice, refining his skills and nurturing his craft. After college, Jack collaborated with his brothers to launch a sterling silver jewelry line, showcasing his creative vision and entrepreneurial spirit. In 2019, Jack brought his talent and dedication to Albarré as a jeweler, continuing to share his artistry with the community.

Craig Kettler joined Albarré in 2025, bringing with him over three decades of hands-on experience in crafting and restoring fine jewelry. With a distinguished career spanning more than 20 years in the luxury jewelry industry across Ladue and Frontenac, Craig has honed his skills and established himself as a master of his craft. A proud graduate of Gem City College, he embodies expertise and dedication, ensuring exceptional craftsmanship for every piece he touches.

Our Story

Albarré Jewelry, founded in June 1976 by Barry Sherman, has been a cornerstone of Ladue’s community for nearly five decades. The store, located at 9711 Clayton Road, stands as a testament to Barry’s passion for the craft—one that was ignited through his cousins, traveling jewelry sales representatives, who invited him to join their trade.

The original boutique was modest in size, adorned with French Provincial decor and equipped with a small repair shop at the back. Barry devoted himself wholeheartedly to the business, tirelessly managing both the front-end customer service and the intricate bench work. With the support of his wife, Myra, and daughter, Jamie, the family grew the store, eventually expanding into the neighboring retail space to create the full-service jewelry destination it is today.

Barry credits his success to the power of personal connections, handshakes, and lifelong partnerships with purveyors from across the globe. These intergenerational relationships endure, with the children and grandchildren of his original clients continuing to trust Albarré for their most cherished pieces. “These relationships changed my life, and most of these jewels remain within their families,” Barry reflects with pride. His dedication to caring for sentimental jewelry and timepieces is unwavering. “We’re a serious service business.”

Over five decades, Barry has cultivated deep bonds with his clientele, both locally and internationally, firmly believing that the foundation of success lies in genuine and honest relationships. This philosophy is embedded in the Albarré team, ensuring that every customer experiences the authentic "Albarré Experience." The staff's meticulous attention to detail, boundless creativity, and commitment to treating each piece of jewelry as if it were their own are hallmarks of their service.

While the showroom boasts an exquisite selection of ready-to-wear and estate jewelry, Barry and his team take particular joy in collaborating with customers to design custom pieces. “I involve the customer in every step of the process, ensuring the finished piece tells their unique story—a story that will last forever,” Barry shares. “It’s our family working with other families, and that’s what makes it so special for us and for them.”

This customer came to us with two rings she no longer wore and expressed her desire for a bypass bracelet. We transformed her rings' center stones into this exquisite bracelet, perfectly tailored to her vision.
