"The Ellie" Many of you have likely met Ellie our sweet and energetic office manager! She has been with Albarre' for over 10 years. Ellie has a background in Art History and puts her creative eye to use every day at Albarre'. However, this story is not about Ellie's amazing designs. It is about her engagement ring! Look at that stunning pink sapphire with the elegant and timeless triangle-cut diamonds. Could there really be a better combination of traditional and Avant-Garde? How many people do you know with a hot pink engagement ring? Show stopper! For Ellie, this ring did not start on a Pinterest board, nor was it pre-conceived by one of our manufacturers. This sapphire had a life before meeting Ellie. This sapphire began as the centerpiece to a necklace. Every morning, for months Ellie would see this gorgeous pink sapphire radiating from the center of a diamond necklace in the display case. She did not even particularly like the color pink, but something about this stone was speaking to her. Why does jewelry have to talk so loud?! The necklace was even sent out to be viewed at a jewelry show, but eventually made its way back to Albarre'. It was kismet. Finally, she said "I have to have that stone!". At Albarre' Jewelry, we are known for one of a kind gemstones and our eagerness to customize and design anything. You might see a pair of cufflinks in our case, but think they would make beautiful earrings. We will do it. If you love an engagement ring you saw, but want a ruby instead of a diamond, we will do it. We thrive on making unique one of a kind designs, and the only way to do that is through our versatility with our clients. You will spot our owner, Barry sitting at a case sketching away his next creation on any given day. When it comes to making your one of a kind piece we can take whatever route you feel comfortable with. We may hand sketch a design, or we may lay loose stones out to see how the size and color looks together. We also offer the option to create a CAD rendering for you with today's technology. It does not matter whether you find the perfect ring or the perfect stone first. We are there to help you find the perfect way to express your vision. Ellie was able to start with her center stone and build the perfect ring around her inspiration. We found the right size custom-cut triangle diamonds to complement the oval sapphire. She then decided on the metals she wanted the ring to be made out of. The pink sapphire was set in rose gold to complement its vivid pink color and a platinum shank for a bright contrast. She was then able to see a CAD rendering (pictured above) and make any changes she desired. The hardest part was and is always waiting on the final ring to be delivered. And guess what? It was a home-run and she shows it off every day. Stop by to see Ellie's ring in person. We cannot wait to hear what kind of story your jewelry design will tell! -Michaela Taylor

In November of 1963 Liviu Feldman, better known around the store as "Lee" was in Vienna, Austria on his way to immigrate to the United States. Lee and his wife were making their journey from their homeland of Bucharest, Romania. This was not just any normal day in November, but the day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Not only were Lee and his wife moving to a new country where they did not speak the language, but they were now moving while the country was having a tragic national crisis. They feared that their immigration would be compromised, but they decided to continue their journey. Coming from a communist country, Lee and his wife quickly found solace with their new life in St. Louis. Upon arrival in America, Lee began learning on-the-job repairing watches at a shop downtown that his wife's cousin owned and operated. Lee continued to repair watches after that shop closed and became the watchmaker for stores all across the St. Louis area. Over 25 years ago our owner, Barry convinced Lee to work at Albarre' full time. It has been a great partnership. Many of you meet Lee over the years and ask about him often. Lee was a very talented watch maker. He retired in 2022 and is spending his time with family and traveling. Although Lee is now retired, we can still help with your watch repair needs. Bring your watch in for a complimentary estimate. We can still install batteries while you wait and replace watch bands. We look forward to servicing your treasured watches.
